Allied wins Diversity & Inclusion Award
The 2023 Concrete NZ's Conference Awards were held at the Claudelands Events Centre in Hamilton. The awards acknowledged the contributions of members to the industry in the areas of Inclusion & Diversity, Health, Safety & Wellbeing, and Carbon Reduction.
The Diversity & Inclusion Award recognised organisations and individuals who have demonstrated a genuine commitment to advancing their culture by embracing diversity and inclusion. Diversity was defined as the presence of difference within a given setting, while inclusion referred to individuals with different identities feeling valued within that setting.
The 2023 Diversity & Inclusion Award was presented to Allied Concrete for their various Diversity & Inclusion initiatives. Allied Concrete's "Get a Haircut" campaign was particularly notable to the judges. This campaign was a part of an overarching HWR recruitment strategy. The judges appreciated the campaign's use of hair as a metaphor to convey the message that they value individuals for who they are, essentially saying, 'whoever you are, we want you just the way you are.'
This prestigious award validates our ongoing commitment to fostering a workplace that celebrates diversity and promotes inclusion at all levels. Our initiatives, such as the "Get a Haircut" recruitment campaign and active engagement in Mental Health Awareness Week, demonstrate that we don't just talk the talk—we walk the walk when it comes to making everyone feel welcome and valued.
