Award Winning Home Built on Quality
Client: Form Builders Ltd
Location: Fendalton, Christchurch
Completion Date: Circa 2017
Product Supplied: 100m3 of 25MPa Concrete
Allied Concrete were engaged by the team at Form Builders, specialists in architectural housing and restorations, for concrete supply for the house foundation slab of a new high spec residential build in Fendalton, Christchurch.
Following the Christchurch Earthquakes, ground conditions for the proposed site were classified as TC3, meaning the land is likely to suffer moderate land damage from liquefaction in possible future earthquakes. As a result, the site received a geotechnical report, requiring a specific engineered designed foundation to withstand any future seismic activity.
Prior to construction of the foundation slab, Form Builders managed the installation of stone columns (piles) to improve ground conditions and limit the degree of liquefaction. Compacted hardfill was used to raise the build platform for the 300mm thick foundation slab.
The foundation slab required 100m3 of 25MPa concrete, a significant volume for a residential home due to the slab’s depth. The successful concrete pour was supplied via Allied’s Christchurch plant, with nearly 17 trucks delivering seamlessly to site to complete the pour in the desired timeframe.
“Allied Concrete were great to deal with during the project, with Driver’s going the extra mile on site and Allied dispatch providing high levels of service, making bookings easy. Their fleet is tidy and professional which reflects positively on our Company during pours in higher end neighbourhoods”.
